Wing Luke Library

Library

Located at the heart of the school, the Wing Luke Library has a diverse collection of fiction and non-fiction books that support the interests of our student population. The Library has 36 student computers giving students access to a variety of academic programs and Internet research. Students visit the Library at least once a week for Library and/or Technology. The goal of the Librarian is to engage students in enjoying literature and in learning information literacy skills while assisting students and teachers in the use of technology. Wing Luke students participate in the Global Reading Challenge, sponsored by Seattle Public Libraries. GRC is a Battle of the Books program for 4th and 5th graders enrolled in the Seattle Public Schools. The program encourages children to have fun and enjoy the sport of reading. After reading 10 books, children take part in a “Quiz Bowl” game to determine the winner for the city of Seattle. The winning Seattle team takes home the Global Reading Challenge traveling trophy and goes on to a videoconference challenge between Seattle and Fraser Valley and Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada
